US Armed Forces Conducts Deadly Attack in Pacific, Resulting in 4 Fatalities

According to a high-ranking defense spokesperson, the American armed forces carried out a lethal strike on a vessel in the eastern Pacific, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.

“Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a deadly attack on a craft linked to a terrorist group in open sea. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along a known narco-trafficking route and was engaged in illicit drug transport. A total of four male drug traffickers were eliminated, and no American forces were harmed.”

Context and Recent Actions

The statement comes a day after a declaration regarding a blockade of all targeted oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. In that announcement on online platforms, the American leader alleged Venezuela of using oil profits to fund narcotics smuggling and other crimes, pledging to increase the military buildup.

Just on the previous day, US defense officials said it had carried out strikes on three boats it accused of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Since 2 September, more than 20 military engagements have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 people, most off the coast of Venezuela.

Government Justifies Actions Amid Pressure

The administration has faced increasing demands to make public video of a September 2nd vessel attack. However, officials have refused to do so. The administration has supported its efforts as a success, saying it has stopped drugs from reaching US shores and has dismissed concerns that it is exceeding the bounds of lawful warfare.

Although the administration has stated the campaign is about stopping drugs destined for the US, remarks from a top official seemed to confirm a broader geopolitical objective. In a recently published interview, the chief of staff said the leader “wants to keep on destroying vessels until Venezuela's president surrenders or concedes.”

This suggests the military campaign may be part of a push to oust Venezuela's current leadership.
